"Gaessawoom Biryedang" Jin Joong-kwon Criticizes Democratic Party Proportional Alliance
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's decision to name the proportional representation coalition platform for the general election as "Simineul Wihayeo" (For the Citizens), calling it a "dogfight proportional party."
On the 17th, Jin posted on his Facebook, saying, "'Simineul Wihayeo' originated from the Dogfight National Movement Headquarters, so it was a predetermined procedure anyway."
He added, "The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions says it will withdraw support for the Green Party. The Green Party has suddenly become the 'Green Algae Party,'" and said, "It is both pitiful and sad to see them trying to enter the legislature by selling their souls relying on the Democratic Party's approval ratings."
He continued, "I understand the difficulties as a minor party, but principles must be upheld," criticizing, "Originally, the Green Party should be positioned further left than the Social Democratic Party."
Jin also said, "The Minjung Party is a successor to the Unified Progressive Party, so it is burdensome for the Democratic Party to accept them, and the Justice Party is not participating," adding, "The Minjung Party has at least one seat, but the other parties are minor parties without real presence, so it seems difficult to make a significant impact with them."
He further stated, "One seat for the Green Party, one seat for the Future Party, one seat for the Basic Income Party. The rest will eventually go back to the Democratic Party."
Meanwhile, "Simineul Wihayeo," founded on the 8th, is evaluated to have a strong pro-Moon Jae-in and pro-Cho Kuk orientation. The co-chairs of "Simineul Wihayeo" are Professors Woo Hee-jong and Choi Bae-geun.
