"Learn AI Expertise Online" ... 'K-MOOC' Also Provides Completion System
Ministry of Education to Develop 20 Additional AI-Related Courses This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] A learning opportunity has opened for any citizen who wishes to acquire basic literacy to advanced expertise in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) through excellent free courses offered by universities and other educational institutions.
The Ministry of Education announced on the 15th that it has developed a learning guide (course completion roadmap) that allows learners to systematically take AI courses according to their learning objectives on the 'Korean Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC)' platform.
The newly developed course completion roadmap categorizes diverse learners who are unsure about the order in which to take AI courses into six groups: computer science majors, engineering and natural science majors, humanities and social science majors, professionals applying AI technology in practice (such as robotics and autonomous driving), business managers, and the general public, providing customized course and learning sequence information based on basic knowledge and learning goals.
Through policy research for developing this roadmap, the Ministry of Education analyzed 929 courses from 24 institutions including domestic and international universities and graduate schools, private organizations, and overseas MOOC platforms, and identified 55 key subjects.
Professor Hong Won-ki of Pohang University of Science and Technology, who led the research, emphasized the significance by stating, "We created a personalized AI course completion roadmap by segmenting various researchers, practitioners, and general learners in fields where AI technology usage is increasing."
