Musical 'Mamma Mia!' Encore Performances at D-Cube Art Center Starting March
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The musical 'Mamma Mia!' will hold an encore performance at the D-Cube Art Center for three months starting from March 8.
'Mamma Mia!' successfully concluded its Seoul performances at the LG Arts Center from July 14 last year for two months and is currently touring the provinces. After performances in Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Gwangju, it will return to Seoul for encore performances from March 8 to May 31. During the LG Arts Center run from July to September last year, 'Mamma Mia!' recorded a 95% seat occupancy rate, demonstrating its continued popularity.
'Mamma Mia!' had a meaningful year last year. The musical, which premiered on April 6, 1999, at the Prince Edward Theatre in London, celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. The Korean production also marked its 15th anniversary last year, and on August 22, it surpassed 2 million cumulative audience members, setting the record for the fastest to reach 2 million viewers in Korean musical history.
Actress Choi Jung-won, who joined 'Mamma Mia!' in 2007 as the lead role 'Donna,' celebrated her 1,000th performance on December 8 last year during the Daegu show, setting the record for the longest-running and most performances for a single role in Korean musical history.
