Gangdong-gu to Launch "Minwon Majung Service" on May 13
One-on-One Assistance for Seniors, Pregnant Women, People with Disabilities, and More
Gangdong-gu, Seoul, will officially launch its customized “Minwon Majung Service” on May 13 to support residents who have difficulty visiting government offices or handling civil affairs in person.
This service is designed to alleviate the inconveniences that residents—such as senior citizens, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and foreigners—may face when visiting the district office for civil affairs. It aims to help them process their requests more comfortably and efficiently. With the recent digitalization of administrative processes, including the introduction of unmanned kiosks, the initiative seeks to improve administrative accessibility for those who may struggle with computerized systems.
Residents wishing to use this service can make a reservation for their visit and required tasks through the Gangdong-gu Office website or by phone prior to visiting. Upon arrival, an employee will accompany the resident to the appropriate civil affairs counter and provide one-on-one assistance—from consulting and filling out complex or unfamiliar certificates and documents, to guiding the use of administrative equipment such as unmanned certificate issuance machines and fax machines—until the process is completed.
The district expects that the introduction of this service will significantly improve access to administrative services not only for people with mobility challenges and pregnant women, but also for foreigners with limited Korean language skills and elderly residents who may find paperwork intimidating.
