Even with High Oil Price Relief Payment, Additional 300,000 Won Per Person to Be Provided... Applications Open from the 18th in This Region
Applications and Payments Begin on May 18
Separate from Government Compensation
Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province will provide a livelihood support grant of 300,000 won per person to its residents. This is a separate county-funded grant from the government’s high oil price relief payment, and will be distributed in the form of local currency.
According to Goseong County on May 12, the Goseong County Council unanimously approved the second supplementary budget for this year during the 309th special session’s second plenary meeting held the previous day, with all 11 council members voting in favor. The total supplementary budget amounts to 759.6 billion won.
This supplementary budget includes funding for the livelihood support grant. The county council also passed the “Goseong County Livelihood Support Grant Ordinance,” which provides the legal basis for the payment. With both the supplementary budget and the ordinance passed, Goseong County will begin the application and payment process for the livelihood support grant starting May 18.
Eligible recipients include approximately 47,000 people, such as residents registered in Goseong County and marriage immigrants. The grant will be distributed in the form of local currency, with each person receiving 300,000 won. The total budget allocated for this payment is about 14.2 billion won.
Goseong County has pushed forward with this support policy to help stabilize residents’ livelihoods and boost local consumption amid economic instability and recession caused by factors such as the Middle East war. Previously, when preparing the second supplementary budget, the county submitted a proposal of 759.6 billion won to the council, which is 25.2 billion won (3.44%) higher than the original budget.
This support grant is separate from the government’s high oil price relief payment. The government’s high oil price relief payment is being promoted in the form of providing 100,000 to 250,000 won per person to the bottom 70% of income earners, while the Goseong County livelihood support grant is funded entirely by the county’s own budget and is provided independently.
