Seodaejeon Station Highlighted as a Multi-Modal Transfer Hub for KTX, Trams, and Metropolitan Railway
Daejeon Holds Briefing Session for Study on Building Integrated Transportation Connectivity
Seodaejeon Station will be transformed into a multi-modal transfer center equipped with a system connecting KTX, trams, the Chungcheong region metropolitan railway, and city buses.
On April 20, the Daejeon Metropolitan Government held a kick-off briefing for the 'Establishment of the Basic Plan and Feasibility Study for the Seodaejeon Station Multi-Modal Transfer Center Project,' attended by Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo, relevant department heads, as well as representatives from Korea National Railway, Korea Railroad Corporation, and other related organizations.
The purpose of the briefing was to strengthen connectivity between railways, urban rail, city buses, and other modes of transportation around Seodaejeon Station, redefining it as a key hub of metropolitan transportation and creating a concrete roadmap for revitalizing the station area and promoting balanced regional development.
The main tasks include: ▲ optimizing passenger transfer routes at Seodaejeon Station for user convenience, ▲ establishing an integrated connection system in line with the opening of Daejeon's Urban Railway Line 2 (tram) and the Chungcheong region metropolitan railway, and ▲ reviewing a mixed-use development model utilizing national and public land around the station area.
Through this study, the city aims to maximize the geographic advantages of Seodaejeon Station and, beyond simple transfer functions, create a complex hub that integrates commercial, cultural, and work facilities, thereby promoting balanced development in the southwestern region.
The city plans to incorporate the feedback presented at the kick-off briefing to develop effective plans and enhance project execution through close cooperation with related organizations.
