D.CAMP and JR East held the ‘Startup OI Tokyo #SmartCity’ program on May 12 at LiSH (Link Scholars' Hub), a startup hub located in Takanawa Gateway City, Tokyo, Japan. The program provided opportunities for Korean startups to conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstrations by applying their technologies to local urban environments.

JR East is currently pushing forward with a large-scale urban development project in Takanawa Gateway City, based on the concept of “connecting people, nature, and technology to create the world’s most vibrant city.”

LiSH, the base for business collaboration, serves as a shared research space and open innovation hub for researchers, startups, and companies, with a focus on the environment and life sciences. It plays a key role in facilitating cooperation, demonstrations, and commercialization among diverse stakeholders.

This program features the participation of seven Korean startups: ▲ EVA, an intelligent distributed energy technology and electric vehicle charging solution provider; ▲ Studiolab, an AI-based commerce content automation company; ▲ SevenPointOne, an AI-powered dementia diagnosis specialist; ▲ Newhorizon, a next-generation convergence filter materials company; ▲ Hugject, an energy harvesting technology firm; ▲ Huino, an AI-based digital healthcare company; and ▲ UniUni, an AI spatial safety solution provider.

Meanwhile, at the event, D.CAMP and JR East signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business cooperation. Under this agreement, when D.CAMP discovers promising startups, JR East will provide opportunities for service validation. A representative from JR East stated, “We plan to offer a demonstration environment in Takanawa Gateway City where startups can validate their services, and we will use our Japanese and global networks to support their business expansion.”
