According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), more than 70% of the world's top 100 crops depend on pollination by honeybees. As colony collapse disorder has become more severe due to climate change and environmental pollution, biodiversity and food security are increasingly under threat.
SP Samhwa employees and pre-registered civilian volunteers participated in the event. The volunteers planted oak saplings to provide a stable source of nectar for bees. The activity focused on enhancing the forest's capacity for natural regeneration by having participants create and install "seed banks," which are burlap sacks filled with tree seeds and soil, so that the forest can thrive independently.
