According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), more than 70% of the world's top 100 crops depend on pollination by honeybees. As colony collapse disorder has become more severe due to climate change and environmental pollution, biodiversity and food security are increasingly under threat.
SP Samhwa employees and pre-registered civilian volunteers participated in the event. The volunteers planted oak saplings to provide a stable source of nectar for bees. The activity focused on enhancing the forest's capacity for natural regeneration by having participants create and install "seed banks," which are burlap sacks filled with tree seeds and soil, so that the forest can thrive independently.
A representative from SP Samhwa stated, "It is meaningful that the Environmental Foundation, our employees, and citizens have come together as one to continue campaigns for ecosystem restoration in celebration of our 80th anniversary. Based on the trust we have built over the past 80 years, we will continue to practice ESG management that values environmental initiatives such as ecological restoration as we move forward to become a company that lasts for the next 100 years."
