HMM: Fire on Small to Medium-Sized Bulk Carrier Anchored in Strait of Hormuz Extinguished
Verifying Facts Amid Suspicions of Attack
HMM announced on May 5 that a fire that broke out on a small to medium-sized bulk carrier anchored in the Strait of Hormuz has been extinguished.
According to HMM, the vessel's crew responded to the fire, which started on the port side of the engine room following an explosion sound the previous day, by releasing carbon dioxide and conducted firefighting operations for approximately four hours. No casualties have been reported.
Some have raised suspicions that the vessel may have been attacked, but the Korean government is still verifying the facts.
