The incident occurred on a road near Guseo Interchange in Geumjeong District. The police urgently arrested Mr. A at around 2:20 PM on the day of the incident. A police official stated, "We intend to clarify the specific motive for the crime and whether there were any accomplices through the suspect's interrogation." At the time of the assault, Mr. A reportedly hurled abusive language at candidate Jung, saying, "How can such a young person run for mayor?" Candidate Jung was born in 1988 and is 38 years old this year.
Candidate Jung suddenly lost his balance and fell backward after being hit on the face and back by the flying beverage, during which he hit his head on the ground and was transported to the hospital.
Immediately after the incident, candidate Jung was admitted to On Hospital in Busan, where he underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan and other detailed examinations. The tests revealed he had suffered a concussion and a muscle strain, but no life-threatening or serious conditions were found.

In particular, a member of the campaign committee said, "The day before, he had celebrated his son's 100th-day party and, with renewed determination as a father to make Busan a better place, was out greeting people on the streets. He suffered great psychological trauma from the insulting language and attack at the scene."
