Jinju City Accelerates Toward 'Completion of Innovation City'... Holds Working-Level Council of Public Institutions
Discussing Strategies for the Second Phase of Relocating Public Institutions from the Seoul Metropolitan Area
Highlighting Strengths in Residential Environment and Industrial Infrastructure
Jinju City, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on April 21 that it held the "2026 Jinju Innovation City Relocated Public Institutions Working-Level Council" in a dedicated conference room on the third floor of the Jinju Innovation City Complex Innovation Center that afternoon.
The meeting was attended by 14 working-level managers from 12 public institutions that have relocated to Jinju Innovation City, including Jinju City, Korea Land & Housing Corporation, Defense Agency for Technology and Quality, Defense Agency for Technology and Planning, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, Housing Management Corporation, Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, Central Customs Analysis Office, Korea South-East Power, Korea Testing Laboratory, Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology, Korea Elevator Safety Agency, and Korea Copyright Commission.

View original imageDuring the council, participants shared updates on the government's recent trends regarding the second phase of relocating public institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area. In particular, they agreed to work together to encourage future relocations to existing innovation cities that are well-equipped with residential conditions and transportation and industrial infrastructure, with the goal of achieving the 'completion of innovation cities.'
Jinju City also called for the active interest and participation of the relocated public institutions to ensure the successful hosting of the large-scale international events to be held in the city this year, namely the '2026 Asia Esports Championship' and the '25th Nongae Festival.'
In addition, the participants discussed ways to vitalize the "Innovation City Day" event scheduled for the second half of the year, shared key municipal issues, and requested active participation and cooperation from public institutions.
The council also provided a forum for communication, where the institutions discussed difficulties and suggestions they face during the settlement and operation process in the region, and jointly sought practical solutions to these issues.
An official from Jinju City said, "We hope for the active cooperation of the relocated public institutions so that Jinju Innovation City can establish itself as a representative model of mutual growth in Korea," adding, "In particular, the Asia Esports Championship and the Nongae Festival to be held this year will serve as important opportunities for the local community and public institutions to unite."

Meanwhile, Jinju City holds working-level council meetings on a quarterly basis to strengthen cooperation with relocated public institutions, and plans to continue focusing its administrative capabilities so that Innovation City can firmly establish itself as a hub for balanced regional development.
