BISTEP Holds Seminar on Strengthening R&D Planning Capabilities in Response to Abolition of Preliminary Feasibility Studies
Sharing Changes in Large-Scale R&D Systems
Exploring Response Strategies for Local Researchers
The Busan Institute of Science, Technology and Education Promotion (BISTEP) held a seminar to respond to changes in the R&D environment following the abolition of preliminary feasibility studies.
BISTEP announced that it hosted the 'Seminar on Strengthening R&D Planning Capabilities' in the main conference room on April 15. The seminar was organized to share information about the evolving large-scale research and development planning system—marking the first year since the abolition of preliminary feasibility studies—and to explore response strategies in collaboration with local researchers.
At the seminar, Sung-Ho Cho, Director of the Investment Strategy Center at the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP), delivered lectures on the following topics: the national R&D budget allocation and coordination process; the structure and utilization strategies of the large-scale R&D pre-review system introduced after the abolition of preliminary feasibility studies; and a practical understanding of the planning review system for large-scale research-oriented R&D projects.
Approximately 60 R&D planners and researchers from industry, academia, research institutes, and government organizations in the Busan area attended the seminar. During the Q&A session, participants discussed key issues and practical solutions encountered in the process of planning actual large-scale R&D projects.
Kim Youngbu, President of BISTEP, stated, "Since the abolition of preliminary feasibility studies, the ability to proactively plan and attract large-scale R&D projects has become more important than ever." He added, "We will continue to provide opportunities for information sharing and discussion in line with changes in national R&D policy, enhancing the planning competitiveness of local research and development stakeholders."
