The ceremony began with the unveiling of the nameplate, followed by introductions of the guests, a presentation and video highlighting the achievements and operations of the Youth Center, a progress report, remarks from the mayor, and congratulatory speeches from the guests. The event continued with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the facility.
The Yangju Youth Center first opened in October 2019 at the Employment Welfare Plus Center inside the city hall, and has since served as a foundation for local youth activities by operating various programs to support youth communities and entrepreneurship.
Notably, last year, the center surpassed 10,000 annual users, solidifying its role as the region's leading youth space.
This relocation was undertaken to improve accessibility and usability for young people. The newly relocated Youth Center now occupies the 5th and 6th floors of the Hoecheon 1-dong Complex Building, with a total area of 1,318.89 square meters, making it about three times larger than before.
The 5th floor features the management office, a youth wardrobe, and an open lounge, while the 6th floor is equipped with spaces to support youth activities and entrepreneurship, including a startup office, shared office space, shared storage, and a product photography studio.
In addition, to reflect youth opinions from the early stages of spatial planning, the city conducted surveys on social networking services (SNS) and held a public contest for the center’s name, while benchmarking other municipalities’ youth centers to enhance practicality and usability.
A Yangju City official stated, "This relocation of the Youth Center marks a new starting point for youth policy," adding, "We will strive to provide a foundation where young people can communicate freely, take on challenges, and grow, and we will actively reflect the voices of youth in our policies."
