Hanul Semiconductor Embarks on Hybrid Inspection Equipment Development... Expanding Display Market Strategy
Hanul Semiconductor has embarked on the development of new equipment to strengthen its competitiveness in the display inspection equipment market. On April 17, the company announced that it will actively push forward the development of a hybrid impression·electrode integrated inspection system. Through this initiative, Hanul Semiconductor aims to overcome the limitations of its existing equipment and secure stable revenue growth based on the expansion of future product sales.
The global display market is expected to continue its steady growth. According to market research firm Mordor Intelligence, the market size is projected to expand from approximately $140.5 billion (about KRW 207 trillion) in 2026 to around $198.5 billion (about KRW 292 trillion) in 2031. This growth is being driven by rising demand for high-value-added products centered on OLEDs, as well as the increasing adoption of displays in a wide range of industries including automotive and IT devices.
The inspection equipment sector is also showing clear growth momentum. The main factors include the transition to flexible OLEDs, the expansion of mass production for micro LEDs, and the introduction of AI-based defect analysis technologies. As display production processes become increasingly advanced, demand for related inspection equipment is expected to continue rising.
The 'Project HYPA (HYbrid Panel Analyzer)' currently under development by Hanul Semiconductor is equipment that integrates optical inspection for rigid panels and electrode signal inspection for flexible panels into a single platform. With this solution, customers will be able to increase space utilization on their production lines while simultaneously improving inspection precision and operational efficiency.
This equipment is designed to maintain compatibility with existing facilities, allowing for quick replacement and deployment. It can be introduced without the need for large-scale line modifications, thereby reducing investment burden and minimizing the time required for implementation.
