Ruling Bloc Special Committee: "Second Daejang-dong Investigation Team Confirmed for Human Rights Violations and Political Retaliation Against Lee"
Confirmed Through Nam Wook's Testimony and Song Kyungho's Remarks
On April 16, lawmakers from the ruling bloc referenced the testimonies of lawyer Nam Wook and the remarks made by Song Kyungho, then head of the Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office, during the hearing of the Special Committee on the National Investigation into the Allegations of Political Prosecutor Fabricated Indictments under the Yoon Seok-youl Administration. They stated, "It has been confirmed that there was an investigation involving human rights violations, and that the investigation targeting President Lee Jaemyung was politically motivated retaliation."
Members of the Democratic Party, the Justice and Innovation Party, and the Progressive Party, who belong to the Special Committee, held an emergency briefing in front of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee conference room at the National Assembly during the investigation. They said, "Nam Wook testified that at the time, he was detained for 48 hours and subjected to coercive interrogations and threats at the Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office detention center, including being told 'we'll take out your organs.'"

He claimed, "Chief Prosecutor Jeong Ilkwon said, 'We have only one goal,'" arguing that the prosecution conducted a targeted investigation against President Lee Jaemyung. However, Prosecutor Jeong countered, saying, "I never said who the target was or what the target was," and explained, "I only told Nam Wook to speak the substantive truth without any prejudice or consideration."
Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Geontae pointed out, "The prosecution, which claims to be an institution that protects human rights, has violated human rights in the most extreme manner and is showing no remorse."
Lee continued, "Nam Wook was arrested on September 16, and between the 16th and 18th, Prosecutor Jeong Ilkwon summoned him and said, 'We have only one goal.' It is clear that this referred to then Democratic Party leader Lee Jaemyung. The second investigation team reportedly stated on the first day of the investigation, 'Our goal is to catch party leader Lee Jaemyung.' With that one statement, the legitimacy of the second Daejang-dong investigation team completely collapses."
He added, "How can this be considered an investigation conducted according to the principle of prosecutorial political neutrality? Former Prosecutor General Lee Wonsuk is lying in front of the entire nation."
Prosecutor Kang Baeksin was also criticized for specifying "suspect Lee Jaemyung" when drafting the seizure record for Park Taeseon, the common-law spouse of Yoo Donggyu, former head of the planning division at Seongnam Development Corporation.
Democratic Party lawmaker Yang Bunam said, "On December 13, 2022, Prosecutor Kang Baeksin seized a bag from Park Taeseon, which Yoo Donggyu had received from Jeong Minyong, and wrote the record specifying Lee Jaemyung as the suspect. In response, former Prosecutor General Song Kyungho said that anyone, including President Lee and former Deputy Director Kim Yong, could be specified, but it is wrong to specify just anyone. To list someone as a suspect, there must be relevant evidence," he argued.

Yang added, "But as of December 13, 2022, there was neither testimony nor evidence that campaign funds had flowed to then leader Lee. This is precisely the point at which we again became convinced that the starting point of this investigation was 'the elimination of a political rival.'"
