[June 3 Election] Democratic Party Begins First Round of North Jeolla Metropolitan Council Primaries
Jinan, Imsil, Sunchang, and Gochang District 2
100% ARS Voting by Registered Party Members on April 16 and 17
The Democratic Party of Korea has begun the first round of primary elections for metropolitan council members in the North Jeolla region.
The North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province branch of the Democratic Party's Election Commission announced on the 15th that it will hold primaries for metropolitan council members in Jinan County, Imsil County, Sunchang County, and Electoral District 2 of Gochang County over two days from April 16 to 17. The primary will be conducted through a 100% vote by registered party members.
The candidates for each region (listed in Korean alphabetical order) are: Jinan County - Park Juhong and Jeon Yongtae; Imsil County - Kwak Kyujong, Park Jeongkyu, and Jang Jongmin; Sunchang County - Shin Jeongi and Jang Seungpil; Gochang County Electoral District 2 - Kim Jeonggang and Kim Taehwan.
On the first day of the primary, April 16, registered party members will receive ARS (automated response system) calls from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. On April 17, registered party members who did not participate in the first day's voting can call into the ARS system from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Only members who did not vote on the first day are eligible to use the call-in method. The ARS call-in number will be announced on the provincial party's website on the 17th. The results will also be announced on the provincial party's website at 6:30 p.m. on April 17.

Meanwhile, the North Jeolla branch of the Democratic Party's Election Commission announced that it would proceed with the metropolitan and basic council member primaries sequentially, due to the delay in finalizing electoral districts by the National Assembly's Special Committee on Political Reform.
