Bringing Palace Culture to Population-Declining Areas of the Yeongnam Region
Immersive Royal Festivity Experience and Traditional Performances for Audience Participation
The National Heritage Administration and the National Heritage Promotion Agency will hold the "Palace on Wheels" royal palace cultural experience event, starting in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, on April 23. The event will tour population-declining areas across the Yeongnam region.
This program is designed to bring palace attractions, food, and entertainment to socially disadvantaged groups who have difficulty visiting palaces in person. Since its launch in 2021, the program has operated across five regions and attracted 8,439 participants.
This year, in the first half, the program will tour inland and coastal areas of North Gyeongsang Province, including Sangju, Yeongju, Yeongdeok, and Ulleungdo. In the second half of the year, it will expand its scope to South Gyeongsang Province. According to a representative from the Promotion Agency, the number of participants is expected to increase from 2,642 last year to 5,100 this year.
