President Lee Orders Thorough Investigation into Samlip Finger Amputation Accident
President Lee Jaemyung ordered a thorough investigation into the worker's finger amputation accident that occurred at the Samlip Siwha plant on the 13th.
During a Cabinet meeting held at the Blue House that day, President Lee asked Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Younghoon, "There was talk about the accident during the morning tea time—are you planning to investigate it?" He added, "There is speculation that this was not an accident that happened despite thorough prevention efforts."
When Minister Kim responded, "We immediately suspended work after the accident and are taking the situation very seriously," President Lee reiterated his directive: "Make sure to closely examine any possible subjective intent involved." This is interpreted as an instruction to check whether any specific intent influenced the failure to implement proper worker safety measures.
