Exhaustion and Death Feared... Wolf Neugoo Still Missing Despite Drone Search
“Only 2–3 Days Left in the Golden Time” Warning
Consumed Two Raw Chickens Before Escape... Possibility of Exhaustion
As the search for Woolgool, the wolf who escaped from the Daejeon O-World safari, entered its sixth day with no leads, concerns have been raised that the animal may have collapsed from exhaustion or even died, due to its lack of hunting skills. Some experts have issued warnings that only two to three days may remain.
On April 13, Daejeon city authorities and the fire department, who are leading the search, deployed drones for a thorough sweep of the Bomunsan area but have not achieved any significant results. It is currently believed that Woolgool has been surviving on two raw chickens consumed the day before its escape. Wildlife experts estimate that, under the current temperatures of 7 to 8 degrees Celsius, a wolf could survive on only water for about ten days after its escape.
The fact that Woolgool was raised under the care of a zookeeper is considered its greatest threat. Even if some wild instincts may remain, the wolf has no experience hunting prey on its own, meaning that a prolonged disappearance could lead to rapid fatal exhaustion and eventual death.
If the individual search efforts do not yield results, authorities plan to escalate to a large-scale, coordinated search involving multiple agencies, aiming to rescue Woolgool within its estimated survival period.

Meanwhile, on the morning of April 8 at around 9:18 a.m., Woolgool escaped the safari by digging under the bottom of a barbed-wire fence. Following a previous incident in 2018 when a puma escaped and was killed due to management negligence, Daejeon O-World is once again facing criticism for inadequate oversight after this wolf escape incident.
