Trump: "U.S. Navy to Immediately Blockade All Ships in Strait of Hormuz... No Nuclear Deal"
Intention to Block Iran's Oil Export Route
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on April 12 (local time), "The U.S. Navy, as the world's most powerful, will immediately begin a blockade of all vessels entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz."
On the same day, President Trump posted on the social networking service Truth Social, "Most issues have been agreed upon, but there has been no agreement on the only truly important issue, which is the nuclear problem," stating this position.
This is interpreted as the United States seeking to cut off Iran's oil export routes by controlling the Strait of Hormuz after negotiations with Iran broke down.
President Trump emphasized, "Someday, we will reach the stage of 'allowing all ships to pass freely,' but Iran has continued to block this with a single phrase, 'There might be mines somewhere,' which only they know about," adding, "This is extortion against the world, and leaders of all countries, especially the United States, will never submit to extortion."
