New Hair Science Class for Middle School Students
Dyson Korea, in collaboration with the Korea Environmental Education Association, is continuing its air environment education program for elementary and middle school students in Korea for the fourth consecutive year. This year, in addition to the existing air quality curriculum, the program will be expanded to include a new hair science class for middle school students, further diversifying the engineering education curriculum.
According to Dyson, the British home appliance company, on April 2, Dyson has continued various technological innovations under the philosophy of solving everyday problems through engineering, and it is expanding this philosophy to activities aimed at nurturing the next generation of engineers. Since 2023, Dyson Korea has been running an educational program titled "Exploring Solutions to Air Pollution and Air Quality Issues" for elementary and middle school students in Korea, in partnership with the Korea Environmental Education Association.
This program is a social contribution initiative designed to raise awareness of the seriousness of air pollution and the importance of improving indoor and outdoor air quality, while empowering students to understand these issues independently and explore potential solutions. In class, educational materials co-developed by the James Dyson Foundation and Dyson engineers are used to help students actively recognize and investigate problems. The James Dyson Foundation offers a variety of resources to introduce students around the world, from lower to upper grades, to the world of engineering and provide opportunities to experience engineering thinking.

The class will consist of scientific experiments to understand the structure and characteristics of hair, as well as an exploration of the latest hair science technologies and solutions developed by Dyson engineers. Through this, students will gain an understanding of the engineering process and have the opportunity to develop their own hair science ideas.
The "Exploring Solutions to Air Pollution and Air Quality Issues" program, now in its fourth year, has consistently expanded its scope and target audience every year. In 2024, the program expanded elementary school classes from Seoul to Gyeonggi Province and Busan, and newly introduced classes for middle school students, with approximately 6,200 students completing the program. In 2025, the program widened its reach to include more regions, such as the five major metropolitan cities, while also strengthening career education sessions for middle school students and programs for members of science clubs. Based on these efforts, a total of 301 classes were held last year, educating about 6,994 students.

Going forward, Dyson Korea, together with the James Dyson Foundation, plans to continue supporting Korean youth in viewing and solving everyday problems through engineering thinking, and will persistently carry out educational-based social contribution activities.
