Jinju City Expands Customized Family Support Policies... Comprehensive Assistance from Marriage and Childbirth to Multicultural Families
Creating a Nurturing Environment with Step-by-Step Financial Support for Marriage, Pregnancy, and Childbirth
Strengthening Family Relationship and Care Programs, Including the "Visiting Multicultural Playground"
Jinju City is implementing a series of customized family support policies in stages to ease the economic burden on households experiencing marriage, pregnancy, and childbirth, as well as to support the stable settlement of multicultural families within the local community.
The city provides financial support throughout the entire process of marriage, pregnancy, and childbirth, while also operating programs such as parental education and early childhood experiential activities. These initiatives aim to foster healthy family relationships and enhance multicultural understanding. Through these efforts, the city plans to simultaneously create a family-friendly social environment and strengthen family functions.

Through the marriage congratulatory gift program, newlyweds who meet certain requirements receive a mobile gift certificate worth 500,000 won. At the pregnancy stage, in addition to health checkup support, pregnant women who are at least 20 weeks along receive a pregnancy congratulatory payment of 500,000 won.
Support for couples experiencing infertility is also being continuously pursued. The city provides assistance with infertility diagnosis and treatment costs, as well as encouragement payments. Additionally, the restriction period for overlapping support in the Korean medicine treatment assistance program has been relaxed to allow for a wider range of treatment options.
Support for families with newborns has also been strengthened. The childbirth congratulatory payment is provided in stages: 1 million won for the first child, 2 million won for the second, and a total of 6 million won for the third and subsequent children. Financial assistance is also provided for the purchase of baby products and the First Meeting Voucher. Furthermore, the city covers 90% of the out-of-pocket expenses for maternal and newborn health management services and provides a postpartum care subsidy of 500,000 won, helping to ease the burden of recovery and childrearing after childbirth.
Alongside these measures, a variety of programs aimed at improving family relationships and providing care support are in operation. These include parental and couple role education, family counseling, pre- and post-divorce family support, support projects for vulnerable families, shared parenting centers, child care services, and grandchild care support. Each program is tailored to the specific type of family.
In particular, from April to July, the 'Visiting Multicultural Playground' program will be operated for local daycare centers and kindergartens. This program dispatches expert instructors in parental education to provide guidance on proper parenting methods and child abuse prevention, while simultaneously offering multicultural experiential events for young children.
Additionally, the city plans to support the formation of positive family relationships by strengthening interactions between parents and children through participatory experiential events for the whole family.
