View original imageThis new system is being introduced following the revision of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Notice on the Standards for Vehicle Registration License Plates, etc.' It aims to improve the identifiability of existing two-wheel vehicle license plates and to strengthen administrative efficiency.
The newly introduced nationwide license plate will be larger, increasing in size from 210mm×115mm to 210mm×150mm. The color of the characters will change from blue to black, and a material with enhanced reflectivity will be used to further improve visibility both day and night. Additionally, the regional names that were previously displayed on license plates will be removed, and a nationwide unified numbering system will be applied.
As a result, two-wheel vehicles that are newly registered for use or reported for reuse after March 20 will be required to attach the nationwide license plate. For changes in registration, owners may choose to receive a nationwide license plate if they wish. However, in cases where it is structurally difficult to attach the nationwide license plate, the issuance of the existing regional license plate will be exceptionally permitted.
