Scattered Gwangju Literature Reunited... Museum Launches Public Collection of Rare Materials
Applications for Sale and Donation of Rare Classical Editions, Handwritten Manuscripts, and Personal Belongings
Submissions Accepted from March 25 to 31; Materials to Be Preserved and Exhibited After Expert Review
The Gwangju Literature Museum is gathering scattered records of the region's literary heritage. A public collection campaign is being launched to systematically preserve and exhibit the literary assets of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, ranging from rare classical editions to authors' handwritten manuscripts and personal belongings.
On March 19, the Gwangju Literature Museum announced that it will be accepting applications for the sale or donation of literature-related materials in Gwangju from March 25 to 31. This public collection aims to secure rare texts and literary materials with significant historical value.

View original imageThe targeted materials include: ▲ Rare classical editions such as "Daegak Guksa Munjip" and "Gyeongnyeomjeongjip" ▲ First editions of major modern and contemporary works such as "Seolgang Children's Songbook" and "Kim Hyunseung's Early Poems" ▲ Local literary magazines and periodicals such as "Honam Culture" and "Honam Public Opinion" ▲ Unique items such as local authors' handwritten manuscripts, letters, and graduation albums ▲ Original materials related to literature including theater, film, and music scores.
The collected materials will undergo review by experts in each field, who will determine whether to accept them as donations or purchase them. Donors will be recognized on the museum's website and with commemorative nameplates, among other honors.
The Gwangju Literature Museum plans to systematically preserve the final collected materials for use in regional literary research and exhibitions.
Individuals, corporations, or organizations wishing to sell materials must complete the application form posted on the Gwangju City website and submit it via email from March 25 until 6:00 p.m. on March 31. For further information, inquiries can be directed to the Reading Promotion Team at the Cultural Heritage Resources Division of Gwangju City or the Gwangju Literature Museum.

Jeon Soonhee, head of the Cultural Heritage Resources Division, stated, "This public collection is being held to discover and share the value of regional literary assets, and we hope that citizens in possession of literary materials will actively participate."
