Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest Anticipates New Attraction with Wood Culture Experience Center
Expansion of Healing Tourism Content Linking Woodworking and Forest Experiences
A new healing destination where visitors can experience both nature and wood culture has opened at the Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest in South Gyeongsang Province.
The Sacheon city government announced on March 11 that it will hold the completion ceremony for the 'Sacheon Wood Culture Experience Center', which was established within the Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest, on March 31.
The completion ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on March 31 at the Wood Culture Experience Center within the Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest, located at 248 Silan-dong. The event is expected to be attended by approximately 300 participants, including Sacheon Mayor Park Dongsik, the City Council Chairman, National Assembly members, provincial and city council members, and heads of related organizations.
The event will proceed with a progress report, the awarding of appreciation plaques, commemorative speeches and congratulatory addresses, a commemorative tree planting, ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremonies, commemorative photography, and a facility tour.
The Sacheon Wood Culture Experience Center was created as an experiential forest culture facility in connection with the Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest, which has become established as a new healing tourism destination. It is designed to provide citizens and tourists with a space to learn about and experience wood culture.
This project was launched after being finally selected for the 'Wood Culture Experience Center Construction Project', a local transfer contest project by the Korea Forest Service in 2022. From 2023 to 2026, a total project cost of approximately 6.8 billion won was invested to construct the center with a total floor area of 1,161㎡.
The center features hands-on facilities utilizing wood, such as a woodworking experience room, a woodcraft workshop, and a laser experience zone, allowing visitors to directly touch, feel, and interact with wood.
In particular, various play and exhibition facilities have been prepared for children and families, including the Forest Maru Book Café, Agabyeol Playroom, Eunha Water Playground, Wood Playground, and Wood Exhibition Room.
The city plans to offer a variety of experiences to visitors by linking the center with other programs and facilities at the Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest, such as forest interpretation and early childhood forest education programs, as well as the net adventure facility.
