Samsung Biologics Holds Events to Mark International Women's Day
Samsung Biologics announced on March 5 that it has organized a series of events and programs to mark International Women's Day on March 8, encouraging employees to reflect on the significance of gender equality.
International Women's Day, established to celebrate women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements and to call for gender equality, was officially designated as a commemorative day by the United Nations (UN) in 1975. In alignment with this, Samsung Biologics has been running online and offline programs from February 25 to March 6 to raise awareness of gender equality among its employees.

This slogan emphasizes that the more we help and share with each other, the greater the strength we gain. Through the Official Pose Challenge, which is being held for the second consecutive year, Samsung Biologics aims to encourage employees to move beyond simple campaign participation and to practice meaningful acts of sharing.
During the event period, employees can participate in the campaign by taking photos in the official pose—bringing both hands together and extending them forward—and posting their photos internally. For each participant, Samsung Biologics will donate goods to support women in vulnerable groups within the local community, including shelters for female adolescents and facilities supporting single mothers in Incheon.
On March 4, a "Growth Experience Sharing Campaign" was held at the company's Bio Plaza in the welfare building. This campaign featured interviews with female leaders, including Executive Director So-yeon Ahn, who became the youngest female executive in the company's history. The interviews covered experiences of overcoming challenges in the workplace and efforts to balance work and family life. Employees who participated also shared their own growth experiences and discussed ways to respect their colleagues.
Meanwhile, Samsung Biologics continues to operate a variety of programs and systems to further strengthen its internal culture of gender equality. The company is consistently carrying out activities to enhance women's leadership capabilities, such as leadership training for female managers, mentoring and coaching programs, and expert panel discussions both inside and outside the company.
To prevent career interruptions for female talent and to support their continued growth, the company also offers broad maternity protection and welfare systems. These include: operation of an in-house daycare center; extended parental leave (up to two years); support for maternity leave during pregnancy (up to one year); reduced working hours during pregnancy; and the operation of maternity protection rooms equipped with facilities such as breast pump stations and recliner chairs, providing practical and considerate support for working mothers.
Thanks to these efforts, the proportion of female talent at Samsung Biologics remains high compared to other companies. The overall percentage of female employees is 44%, which is 1.7 times higher than the average among the top 500 domestic companies by sales, and 1.6 times higher than the average among manufacturing companies. The percentage of female executives is 18%, and female middle managers 31%, which are 2.1 times and 1.7 times higher, respectively, than the averages of the top 500 domestic companies. Based on these achievements, Samsung Biologics obtained "Family-Friendly Company Certification" in 2015 and has maintained this certification for ten consecutive years.
Samsung Biologics plans to further advance its global-level diversity and inclusion strategies, creating an environment where all employees can develop without discrimination. The company also intends to strengthen its systems to support work-life balance and expand internal awareness campaigns to further foster a culture of gender equality.
