Jinju City Recruiting Outstanding Gardens This Year ... Discovering Hidden Private Gardens
Discovering Open Gardens with Sustainable Management
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province is now accepting applications for the "2026 Jinju City Excellent Private Gardens" to discover outstanding private gardens created and managed by citizens, as well as to promote garden culture and develop tourism resources.
This initiative aims to expand the foundation of local garden culture by identifying gardens within the city that are created and managed by individuals, corporations, or organizations (such as civic communities), provided that these gardens are accessible to the public and can be continuously maintained.
The eligibility criteria require that the area of the garden, excluding buildings, must be at least 30 square meters for individuals and at least 100 square meters for corporations or organizations. The garden must also be able to cooperate with Jinju City's garden policies and be capable of ongoing creation and maintenance.
The application period is open until 6:00 p.m. on May 29, and submissions can be made in person at the Forest and Garden Division or by mail.
The submitted gardens will undergo document review and on-site evaluation, after which a total of eight gardens will be selected. Selected gardens will receive a Jinju City private garden registration certificate and nameplate, as well as up to 1 million won in support for materials and expenses necessary for garden management.
In addition, the selected private gardens will be introduced and promoted through online media, contributing to the spread of participatory garden culture among citizens.
