Till Scheer, CEO of Volkswagen Korea, Reappointed for Third Term as Chairman of KAIDA

Till Scheer, CEO of Volkswagen Korea, has been appointed as the 17th chairman of the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.
The Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association announced that at its general meeting held on the 26th at the Westin Chosun Hotel, it appointed CEO Till Scheer as the new chairman. Chairman Till Scheer, who has served three consecutive terms since the 15th chairmanship, will lead the association for the next two years.
Chairman Till Scheer has built extensive experience and expertise in the automotive sector in European markets as well as in Hong Kong, China, Japan and other Asian markets, and previously served as chairman of the Japan Automobile Importers Association. He assumed the role of Group President of Volkswagen Group Korea in 2021.
On the same day, the association also confirmed the extension of board terms for Matthias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea; Bangsil, CEO of Stellantis Korea; Manabu Konyama, CEO of Toyota Motor Korea; and Han Sangyun, CEO of BMW Group Korea.
During Chairman Till Scheer’s tenure, the association focused on communication and cooperation with the Korean government and relevant organizations in the domestic and global automotive industries in response to rapid technological advances and the introduction of various regulations driven by the market shift toward eco-friendly vehicles and future mobility.
It also strengthened regular policy seminars and English translation projects for complex regulations, signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with government agencies, and enhanced its role as an information provider by building an automotive industry database.
In addition, last year, which marked the 30th anniversary of its founding, the association achieved 300,000 new registrations of imported passenger cars, with electric vehicles accounting for 29.7% and hybrids 56.7% of annual new passenger car registrations, thereby supporting the Korean government’s policy to expand the supply of low- and zero-emission vehicles.
