In response, Donghae City actively promoted treatment, strengthened medication management, and focused on continuous counseling and monitoring to improve the latent tuberculosis treatment rate in 2025, achieving a treatment management rate of 90.8%.
Latent tuberculosis infection has no symptoms or infectivity, so people feel less need for treatment, and it requires consistent medication for about three months, making treatment interruption likely. Therefore, in addition to voluntary participation by patients, systematic administrative management is crucial.
To further increase the treatment completion rate, Donghae City is promoting the "Latent Tuberculosis Treatment Support Three-Step Project," which integrates health management, medication management, and treatment motivation.
This project systematically supports the entire treatment process, including safety management through health checks such as blood tests before, during, and after treatment; step-by-step medication counseling and adherence management; provision of step-by-step support gifts to encourage participation in treatment; issuance of certificates of completion to those who finish treatment; and follow-up management.
