The meeting proceeded in the following order: a report on senior welfare projects for 2026 and presentations of proposals for senior welfare policies. Attendees exchanged opinions on the projects and policies, and engaged in in-depth discussions on potential problems that could arise during project implementation and possible improvement measures.
At the end of last year, Uijeongbu City entered a super-aged society, with the population aged 65 and older exceeding 20% of the total population. Currently, the senior population stands at 93,707, accounting for 20.3% of the total population.
In response, the city is receiving policy proposals in various fields such as social participation, employment, health, and leisure for older adults through the Senior Committee, which is composed of citizens aged 60 and older and experts, and is actively reflecting these proposals in municipal administration.
Co-Chair Won Daesik said, "We will work even harder to ensure that the Senior Committee becomes a body that understands the hearts of older adults and communicates with them from their point of view."
