This visiting lecture program was the first exchange and cooperation initiative pursued with the goal of operating a "2+2 Joint Degree Program," under which students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will study locally for two years, then transfer to the Department of Semiconductor Systems Engineering at Kwangwoon University for an additional two years to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree in semiconductor engineering.

The lectures were offered as regular major courses at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in the fields of semiconductor circuit design and very-large-scale integration (VLSI) system design.

Three professors from the Department of Semiconductor Systems Engineering at Kwangwoon University served as visiting foreign professors, teaching third- and fourth-year major courses at the local university and providing more than 10 hours of intensive lectures per course over a two-week period. In addition, they conducted special seminars and workshops for undergraduate and graduate students.

Furthermore, the program was carried out in such a way that the Department of Semiconductor Systems Engineering and the Semiconductor Specialized University Project Group were responsible for developing specialized educational content and delivering lectures, while the International Exchange Team at the Office of International Affairs took charge of establishing an academic and administrative cooperation framework with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Shin Hyuncheol, head of the Semiconductor Specialized University Project Group and concurrently dean of the graduate school, said, "These two weeks of visiting lectures are an example of international educational cooperation that Kwangwoon University has planned and implemented together with major universities in Vietnam," adding, "We will continue to expand cooperation in semiconductor education and research with universities in the Asian region and thereby strengthen our role as a semiconductor-specialized university."

Meanwhile, through the "2+2 Joint Degree Program," Kwangwoon University plans to provide outstanding Vietnamese students with a specialized education pathway in semiconductors and to gradually establish an international educational cooperation model for nurturing global semiconductor talent.
