Miryang Citizens Scholarship Foundation to Select 372 Recipients for 2026... Number of University Students Doubled
Applications for University and Special Talent Scholarships
Accepted from February 2 to 27
The Miryang Citizens Scholarship Foundation will select recipients for the "2026 Miryang Citizens Scholarship Foundation Scholarship" to nurture talented individuals who will lead the region's future and to ease the burden of educational expenses.
Since its establishment in February 2003, the foundation has played a pivotal role in scholarship programs in Miryang, Gyeongnam, supporting a total of 3,886 students with approximately 2.99 billion won in scholarships to date.
This year, in order to alleviate the continuously increasing burden of educational expenses, the foundation has significantly increased the number of recipients and relaxed the eligibility requirements.
For university scholarships, the number of recipients has doubled from 150 last year to 300 this year.
In addition, the eligibility has been expanded to allow current university students in their sophomore year or higher who enrolled before the 2026 academic year to newly apply, enabling more local talent to benefit from the program.
The selection criteria for special talent scholarships (for university and high school students) have also become more flexible.
Previously, eligibility was limited to new students entering a higher-level school, but starting this year, it has been expanded to include students who have advanced to a higher grade and are currently enrolled, so that students pursuing their dreams in various fields can receive broader support.
The total number of recipients to be selected by category is as follows: 300 university students, 45 high school students, 9 specialized high school students, 10 students with special talents, 4 students from Pusan National University Miryang Campus, and 4 students from Baeksan Elementary School Yongsoon Scholarship Association, totaling 372 recipients.
High school students, specialized high school students, Pusan National University Miryang Campus students, and Baeksan Elementary School Yongsoon Scholarship Association recipients will be selected through recommendations from school principals, university presidents, or committees. University students and special talent scholarship applicants will be selected through individual applications, followed by document review and deliberation by the foundation's board of directors.
