UK Prime Minister in Sunglasses... Macron 'Top Gun' Impression Brings Laughter to Audience
President Macron Responds with a Comment
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer appeared at an event wearing sunglasses. He was imitating French President Emmanuel Macron, who had previously worn sunglasses, bringing laughter to the audience at the event.
According to French daily Le Parisien on the 27th (local time), Prime Minister Starmer posted a short nine-second video on his official TikTok account that day. The video was filmed during the recording of the podcast "Political Parties" at a London theater. Starmer appeared wearing black Top Gun-style sunglasses and greeted the audience with "Bonjour" in an English accent. The audience immediately burst into laughter.
The video included a caption quoting Tom Cruise's line from the movie "Top Gun": "Talk to me, Goose." Goose is the partner of the main character Maverick, played by Tom Cruise in the film. The line that Starmer referenced is Maverick's soliloquy, spoken to overcome his fear after his friend's death.
President Macron responded to Starmer's video with the comment "For sure." This phrase was previously used by President Macron himself during his speech at the Davos Forum, where he stated, "Europe is sometimes, for sure, too slow, and for sure, needs reform."
Prime Minister Starmer replied to President Macron's comment with another post, sharing a composite image of the two leaders dressed as pilots and wearing Top Gun sunglasses.
