SG Survey Finds 'Safety' Top Priority for Eco-Friendly Roads
SG, a company specializing in eco-friendly road infrastructure and asphalt concrete, announced on the 28th that a public perception survey on eco-friendly road technology and global reconstruction projects revealed that the highest proportion of responses focused on road safety and accident prevention.
This survey was conducted through the mobile survey platform CRATOS to assess social demand for SG's core business models, such as the 'Eco Steel Asphalt Concrete' technology and the Ukraine reconstruction project.
According to the results, 48.0% of respondents selected 'improved driving safety and accident prevention due to reduced road damage (potholes)' as the most positive effect expected from the introduction of eco-friendly road paving technology. This was followed by 'improved air quality, such as reduced fine dust generated during road paving and driving,' at 24.8%, indicating that expectations for both safety and improvements in living environment were significant.
Regarding the entry of Korean companies into the Ukrainian road reconstruction market, 'competitiveness in supplying and constructing high-strength, high-performance asphalt concrete' received the highest response rate at 36.8%. This was followed by 'establishing a production and supply chain capable of rapidly providing asphalt concrete,' at 27.9%, showing that technological capability and supply stability are perceived as key factors in reconstruction projects.
As for solutions to environmental pollution caused by industrial facilities, 'budget and policy support for replacing outdated manufacturing facilities with eco-friendly processes' was the most selected at 26.8%. This was followed by 'introduction of eco-friendly equipment to reduce harmful air pollutants' at 23.4%, and 'strengthening environmental regulatory standards and strict administrative measures against non-compliant facilities' at 21.8%.
For future priorities in creating a sustainable road environment, 'expanding the complete replacement of major urban roads with eco-friendly and low-noise pavement' received the highest response at 38.1%, followed by 'expanding the introduction of permeable roads to prevent river flooding and inundation' at 22.5%.
An SG representative stated, "The results of this survey show that public expectations for eco-friendly road technology are simultaneously focused on safety and environmental improvement," adding, "We plan to gradually expand our business based on proven construction methods and supply structures at reconstruction sites." The representative continued, "We will continue to strengthen our business competitiveness by applying technologies and establishing production and supply systems tailored to local conditions."

SG has now completed the establishment of a local subsidiary in Ukraine and is accelerating its entry into the reconstruction market. The company plans to supply 'Eco Steel Asphalt Concrete,' an eco-friendly asphalt concrete utilizing slag generated locally in Ukraine. Eco Steel Asphalt Concrete, which uses steelmaking slag as a by-product, is being used as one of the company's main solutions, together with the air pollution reduction equipment 'SGR+'.
