Daejeon City Achieves 'Excellent' Grade for Overhead Cable Maintenance Project for Second Consecutive Year, Improving Urban Aesthetics
Securing 1.36 Billion Won in Incentives
Daejeon City has achieved an 'Excellent' grade for the second consecutive year in the local government evaluation for the overhead cable maintenance project, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT. As a result, the city has secured an incentive of 1.36 billion won and will carry out a maintenance project totaling 8.86 billion won.
The overhead cable maintenance project is a community-focused initiative aimed at organizing tangled electric, broadcasting, and communication lines on utility poles along roads and in residential areas. The goal is to improve the city's appearance and prevent pedestrian safety accidents.
The Ministry of Science and ICT annually evaluates the maintenance performance and project plans of local governments, assigning grades of Excellent, Average, or Poor. Local governments with outstanding performance and plans receive additional maintenance quotas and project funding.
Last year, the city focused on nine maintenance zones-Soje-dong, Seongnam-dong, Busa-dong, Sanseong-dong, Byeon-dong, Nae-dong, Bongsan-dong, Songgang-dong, and Pyeongchon-dong-implementing initiatives such as ▲removal of outdated and abandoned lines, ▲organizing excessively sagging spare wires, and ▲improving overhead cables that hinder pedestrian movement.
