National Tax Service to Recruit 9,500 Temporary Employees for "Verification of 130 Trillion Won in Delinquencies"
Online Applications Accepted Until May 26
Status Checks to Cover Both National Taxes and Non-Tax Revenue Delinquencies
The National Tax Service is recruiting members for the Delinquency Management Task Force to investigate the status of overdue national taxes and non-tax revenue.
On May 18, the National Tax Service announced that it would simultaneously begin accepting applications for 2,500 temporary workers for the National Tax Delinquency Management Task Force, and 3,000 for the Non-Tax Revenue Delinquency Management Task Force, totaling 5,500 positions. In addition, the Non-Tax Revenue Delinquency Management Task Force plans to recruit an additional 4,000 temporary workers in July 2026, who will be tasked with verifying the status of delinquent taxpayers, with hiring scheduled for September 2026.
Applicants must be South Korean nationals aged 18 or older. Veterans, persons with disabilities, and recipients of basic livelihood security will be given extra points in the selection process to provide preferential treatment for vulnerable groups.
Applications will be accepted online only until 6 p.m. on May 26. Those wishing to apply must submit the required documents via the National Tax Service’s dedicated recruitment website for temporary workers; in-person or mail submissions will not be accepted.
The salary for temporary workers in the Delinquency Management Task Force will be raised to 12,250 won per hour, which is 120% of the previous minimum wage of 10,320 won, in line with the national average living wage. In addition, the fixed meal allowance will be increased from 120,000 won to 160,000 won per month. Furthermore, all basic employment conditions—such as enrollment in the four major social insurances, weekly holiday allowance, and paid annual leave—will be guaranteed, allowing employees to work with greater stability and better balance work and family life.
The National Tax and Non-Tax Revenue Delinquency Management Task Forces will go beyond simple collection activities by categorizing delinquent taxpayers according to individual circumstances, such as economic conditions, and implementing “tailored delinquency management.” For those facing financial hardship, the National Tax Service will provide guidance on the system for extinguishing national tax payment obligations and connect them with welfare services. Those experiencing temporary cash flow problems will be offered installment payment options to provide financial relief and a chance to recover. However, if a taxpayer is found to be deliberately evading payment after the status verification, a National Tax Service official specializing in delinquency will conduct a tracing investigation and respond strictly.
