Fostering a Culture of Honoring Veterans in Everyday Life
The Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director: Lee Nam-il) announced on January 2, 2026, that the "Yeongdo District 6.25 War Veterans Memorial," located in Cheonghak-dong, Yeongdo District, has been selected as the "Patriotic Facility of the Month" for January 2026.
The Busan Office selects and promotes a "Patriotic Facility of the Month" to raise public interest in patriotic facilities and to spread a culture of honoring veterans in everyday life.
The Yeongdo District 6.25 War Veterans Memorial is inscribed with the names of 1,676 individuals from Yeongdo District who participated in the Korean War, both the fallen and the surviving veterans. The memorial was erected in October 2022 and was officially designated as a patriotic facility by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in May 2023.
This memorial is regarded as a symbolic space to honor the dedication and sacrifice of local war veterans and to convey the history of the war and the value of freedom to the community and future generations.
The Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs continues to promote the construction and designation of patriotic facilities to foster a culture of respect and honor for national heroes, and to ensure that citizens can reflect on their noble spirit of sacrifice and contributions in their daily lives.
