Seodaemun District in Seoul (headed by Mayor Lee Seongheon) will conclude its scheduled 'Humanities Special Lecture with Professor Hyungseok Kim', which has been held once a month since September this year, with the final lecture taking place at 2 p.m. on the 17th of this month in the district office's main auditorium.
Philosopher Hyungseok Kim, Professor Emeritus at Yonsei University, has provided audiences with a broad opportunity for humanities reflection during the previous three lectures, covering topics such as the meaning of life, beliefs and values, and the standards for thoughts and choices.
In this upcoming lecture, under the title 'Reading History, Writing the Future', the 106-year-old philosopher will offer his profound interpretation on how to understand and prepare for a rapidly changing era by looking beyond individual lives to the flow of society and history.
In addition to the lecture, there will be a string trio performance by members of the 'Seodaemun Orchestra Symphony Song', and, as this is the final lecture in the series, there will also be an opportunity for commemorative photos with Professor Kim.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun District, stated, "Through Professor Hyungseok Kim’s special lectures, filled with his experience and wisdom, it has been a valuable time to find the purpose and direction of life," adding, "I hope many people will participate in this final lecture, which will be a meaningful way to wrap up the year."
