KOSPI Starts Above 3,960... KOSDAQ Gains Over 1%
KOSPI Fluctuates Near the 4,000-Point Mark
On December 1, the KOSPI started the day with gains, approaching the 4,000-point mark, and has since been fluctuating within a strong positive range. The KOSDAQ has risen more than 1% in early trading.
As of 9:14 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI stood at 3,934.44, up 0.20% from the previous trading day. The index initially jumped 1.05% to open at 3,967.92 and climbed as high as 3,977.31, but has since narrowed its gains.
Foreign investors have been leading the market by purchasing 63.9 billion won worth of shares. In contrast, individual investors and institutions are net sellers, offloading 30.8 billion won and 26.3 billion won, respectively.
Performance varies across sectors. Transportation & Warehousing (2.35%), Pharmaceuticals (1.80%), Medical & Precision Instruments (0.81%), Electrical & Electronics (0.73%), Retail (0.51%), and Paper & Wood (0.41%) are on the rise. Meanwhile, Transportation Equipment & Parts (-1.73%), Electricity & Gas (-1.50%), Food, Beverage & Tobacco (-0.78%), Construction (-0.40%), and Metals (-0.36%) are declining.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics (0.85%) and SK Hynix (1.32%) are advancing. LG Energy Solution (0.49%), Samsung Biologics (2.68%), and KB Financial Group (0.32%) are also showing gains. On the other hand, Hyundai Motor (-1.53%), Doosan Enerbility (-0.92%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-2.24%), and Kia (-1.71%) are underperforming.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was up 1.32% at 924.76. The index, which opened 0.88% higher at 920.69 compared to the previous session, has been expanding its gains.
Individual investors and institutions are net buyers, purchasing 32.9 billion won and 36.2 billion won, respectively, while foreign investors are net sellers, offloading 63 billion won.
Most sectors are rising. Financials (3.06%), IT Services (2.21%), Machinery & Equipment (2.04%), Chemicals (1.94%), Electrical & Electronics (1.71%), Manufacturing (1.31%), Paper & Wood (1.05%), and Medical & Precision Instruments (0.92%) are leading the gains. Only Construction (-0.13%) and Transportation & Warehousing (-0.01%) are declining.

Among the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, all are advancing except for ABL Bio (-0.11%), Peptron (-8.97%), and Kolon TissueGene (-1.64%). Alteogen (1.69%), Ecopro BM (4.80%), Ecopro (3.43%), Rainbow Robotics (3.56%), LIG ChemBio (0.36%), HLB (3.94%), and Samchundang Pharm (4.85%) are all posting gains.
