EM&AI: "Emerge Labs Selected for 'Global TIPS' by Ministry of SMEs and Startups... Accelerating AI-Based Next-Generation Battery Material Development"
EM&AI announced on November 20 that its subsidiary, Emerge Labs, has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Global TIPS' program. EM&AI currently holds a 46% stake in Emerge Labs.
The total support amount is 1.5 billion won, including 1.2 billion won in government funding and 300 million won in private investment. Through this selection, Emerge Labs will officially begin developing commercialization technology for oxide-based electrolytes that can respond to the global battery market.
Emerge Labs specializes in basic material research and the design of new bulk and nano materials. By combining sol-gel-based oxide electrolyte synthesis technology with artificial intelligence (AI)-based material design capabilities, the company aims to enhance ionic conductivity and optimize mass production processes. In collaboration with its parent company, EM&AI, it will also establish a pilot production line, with a strategy to secure rapid commercialization competitiveness in the battery market.
In the first year, the company will focus on AI-based electrolyte property calculations, material composition optimization, and the establishment of a pilot line. Work is also underway to secure a global production base, with the goal of selecting a site for a local factory in the United States by 2027.

The company stated, "The initial commercialization of the battery will first take place in wearables and IT devices, and will then expand to the U.S.-centered electric vehicle (EV) market. Emerge Labs will secure a competitive edge with global customers by combining AI-based material development and sol-gel mass production technology." The company added, "With this selection for the Global TIPS program, we will further accelerate the early commercialization and overseas expansion of oxide-based solid electrolytes."
