Dongducheon City to Provide Up to 300,000 Won for Language and Certification Exam Fees for Unemployed Youth
Dongducheon City Accepting Additional Applications Until December 4
Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Program Recipients
Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyungdeok) announced on November 7 that it will be accepting additional applications for the “Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Program” until December 4. The program provides up to 300,000 won per person to cover language and certification exam fees for unemployed youth seeking employment.
Applicants can receive support up to a limit of 300,000 won per person. There are no restrictions based on previous support history or the number of exams taken or courses attended in the previous year.
Eligible applicants are unemployed youth who, as of the application date, reside in Dongducheon City and fall within the youth age range for the support year (born between 1985 and 2006). Employment status at the time of application does not affect eligibility; however, applicants must be unemployed at the time of taking the exam. In addition, those engaged in short-term employment of less than one year are considered unemployed and are eligible for support.
The program covers a total of 1,004 types of exams, including 19 types of language tests, the Korean History Proficiency Test, 540 types of national technical qualifications, 347 types of national professional qualifications, and 97 types of nationally accredited private qualifications. However, among national professional qualifications, only the Class 1 special vehicle license is eligible for support in the category of automobile driver’s licenses.
It should be noted that duplicate support is not allowed for those participating in similar programs offered by the central government or other local governments, such as the “National Employment Support System” or “Gyeonggi Women’s Employment Support Fund.” For participants in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s “Youth National Technical Qualification Exam Fee Support” program, only the self-funded portion is eligible for support.
