Discussing Strategies to Enhance Response to Environmental Regulations
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business announced that it held the "2nd Environmental and ESG Committee Meeting of 2025" on the 6th at the Federation's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
The committee was formed to share information and enhance the ability to respond to environmental regulations, aiming to promote the spread of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management among small and medium-sized enterprises. Representatives of industry-specific SME cooperatives and industry experts are participating as committee members.

View original imageAt the meeting, Maeng Hakgyun, Director of the Resource Recycling Division at the Climate, Environment and Energy Department, gave a presentation on the "Direction for Domestic Institutionalization of the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)." This was followed by Choi Sangwoong, Head of the Life Cycle Assessment Office at the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, who introduced environmental policy directions and explained the environmental labeling and environmental product declaration systems under the theme of "Environmental Labeling System and SME Support Programs."

In addition, the roundtable discussion covered topics such as sharing major ESG-related regulatory issues, the establishment of an integrated environmental and safety management system, and the SME Climate, Energy, and Environmental Policy Council. The participants discussed ways to respond to and support the industry in meeting environmental regulations.
