The Yangpyeong County Council stated, "This incident, in which a public official made an extreme choice following a special investigation, is not simply a personal tragedy. It is a significant event that highlights the importance of protecting human rights throughout the public sector and establishing fair investigative procedures."
The council continued, "The deceased was a public official who devoted his life to the development of Yangpyeong County and the happiness of its residents. His decision to end his life under severe psychological pressure has brought great shock and sorrow to the entire community."
The council also emphasized, "The human rights protection system must be strengthened so that public officials can be safeguarded from undue pressure or defamation, and fair investigative procedures must be established."

Through the resolution, the Yangpyeong County Council called for: ▶ an immediate and thorough investigation into the circumstances of the official's death and the entire investigative process ▶ clear fact-finding and responsible actions if any human rights violations or excessive investigative practices occurred during the investigation ▶ the establishment of institutional measures to protect public officials nationwide from unreasonable pressure or defamation while performing their duties.
