Exclusive Preview at Gimcheon Gimbap Festival on October 25-26, Nationwide Launch on the 28th
CU, the convenience store chain operated by BGF Retail, announced on October 23 that it will launch the 'Hodumayo Jeyuk Gimbap,' the winning entry from the competition at the 2025 Gimcheon Gimbap Festival held in Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, as a new product nationwide.
Last year, CU introduced the 'Osami Banban Gimbap,' based on the winning recipe from the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival. The product sold over 500,000 units, drawing significant customer interest and helping to raise awareness of both the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival and the local area.

The product is based on the recipe that won first place in a competition co-hosted by BGF Retail and Gimcheon City in August, beating a 59-to-1 competition ratio. The judging panel included the head of BGF Retail’s ready-to-eat foods team, the gimbap category manager, developers, and other industry experts.
The product features a special walnut mayo sauce made with walnuts, a specialty of Gimcheon, and stir-fried Korean pork as the main ingredients. The combination of the crunchy walnut texture, spicy stir-fried pork, and mayo sauce creates a savory yet spicy flavor profile. The packaging highlights its award-winning status by featuring 'Kkodari,' the mascot of the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival.
CU will first introduce the Hodumayo Jeyuk Gimbap to festival-goers at a special booth in front of the main stage of the 2025 Gimcheon Gimbap Festival, which will be held from October 25 to 26.
