Icheon City Teams Up with Post Office to Identify Households at Welfare Risk
Implementation of the "Welfare Registered Mail Service" Project
in Collaboration with Icheon Post Office
Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province is joining forces with local post offices to address welfare blind spots.
On October 21, the city announced that it will implement the "Welfare Registered Mail Service" project in collaboration with the Icheon Post Office to identify households at risk of welfare crises.
The city explained that by leveraging the post office network through public-private cooperation, it aims to diversify channels for identifying at-risk households and to proactively discover and support those in need, thereby establishing a robust welfare safety net.
Through this project, the city's Welfare Policy Division will select households suspected of being at risk each month and send them registered mail containing information about welfare services. Postal workers will visit these households to deliver the mail, assess their living conditions, and complete a checklist, which will then be sent back to the Welfare Policy Division. Based on the returned checklists, the division will determine whether a crisis exists and connect the households to the necessary customized welfare services.
