The basic design for the Sanae welfare housing project for the elderly was completed in August.
Under this agreement, LH will request approval for the housing construction project plan from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport within this year.
Hwacheon County plans to sign an implementation agreement with LH as soon as the detailed design is completed next year.
Once the implementation agreement is finalized, LH will begin construction in January 2027, with completion expected in December 2028.
The Sanae welfare housing for the elderly, with a total project cost of approximately 28 billion won, will be built on a 3,627-square-meter site as a 10-story building.
The first floor will house social welfare facilities, and residential spaces for 60 households will be provided on the second through tenth floors.
The social welfare facilities will include a senior citizens' center, a training center, program rooms, a large auditorium, and a health promotion room.
Resident recruitment is scheduled for September 2028, and the target residents are homeless seniors aged 65 or older.
The estimated monthly rent upon move-in is expected to be around 70,000 won, which is anticipated to significantly reduce the housing cost burden for the elderly.
Hwacheon County will assign dedicated staff and implement ongoing customized education, welfare, and exercise programs for seniors.
This is the second welfare housing project for the elderly in Hwacheon.
In April 2021, Hwacheon County completed an apartment complex with 120 households and a silver welfare center in Sineup-ri, Hwacheon-eup.
At that time as well, Hwacheon County and the LH Gangwon Regional Headquarters provided comfortable homes for seniors through swift administrative procedures and construction.
