Substantive discussions were held to establish a sustainable foundation for international educational cooperation and to enhance the global competencies of students and faculty members.
To attend the meeting, Jack Leung, International Cooperation Manager at the Queensland Department of Education, visited Korea. From the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education, one supervisor each from the Policy Planning Division and the Future Education Division, as well as one researcher from the International Education Institute, participated.
During the working-level meeting, the two sides reviewed the details of the Statement of Intent (SOI) on educational cooperation and agreed to sign it online in the first half of 2026.
The main contents include: short-term work training and school field practice; operation of cultural and educational exchange programs; establishment of a continuous communication system; and development of cooperative models in areas of mutual interest, outlining the medium- and long-term directions for collaboration between the two institutions.
In addition, as detailed action plans under the Statement of Intent, the parties exchanged in-depth opinions on four key areas of cooperation: online international joint classes, student educational exchanges, local training for teachers, and cooperation in recruiting native-speaking teachers. In particular, they agreed to prioritize the implementation of online international joint classes and the inclusion of local school field practice in the long-term intensive training programs for faculty members.
Through this meeting, both institutions agreed to jointly take responsibility for the administrative and financial support necessary for educational cooperation and to work closely together in recruiting participating institutions, students, and faculty members, as well as in the overall operation of the programs.
