This training was conducted for mental health professionals-including mental health nurses, social workers, and counselors-working at the Gwangju Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center, as well as at the basic mental health welfare centers and addiction management centers in Buk-gu, Nam-gu, Dong-gu, Seo-gu, and Gwangsan-gu.
The training program was designed for immediate application in fieldwork and counseling. The sessions included: “The Role of the Cancer Survivorship Integrated Support Center and Characteristics of Survivors” (Choi Yuri, Center Director), “Understanding Emotional Issues and Case Studies of Cancer Survivors” (Kim Sunyoung, Professor of Psychiatry at Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital), and “Individual and Group Psychotherapy Techniques and Counseling Considerations” (Yoo Eunseung, Professor of Counseling Psychology at Korea Cyber University).
The need to strengthen practical capabilities to support the lives of cancer survivors from multiple perspectives after treatment was also emphasized, given the increasing demand for support in the mental and psychological domains.
