Lee maintains that her arrest constitutes unjust detention, as she has never refused a police summons, including submitting written explanations for her absences. Attorney Lim stated, "The request for a warrant review also argues that there is insufficient evidence to support charges of violating the State Public Officials Act and the Public Official Election Act."
The warrant review hearing for Lee is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on October 4 at the Seoul Southern District Court.
After being arrested yesterday, Lee was questioned for about three hours before being placed in a holding cell at the Yeongdeungpo Police Station at 9 p.m. Police resumed their investigation this morning.
According to the warrant, Lee is accused of violating the State Public Officials Act and the Public Official Election Act. Police allege that while Lee was suspended from duty between September and October last year, she appeared on four conservative-leaning YouTube channels and made politically biased remarks such as, "I am very grateful to the conservative heroines... We need warriors who fight against fake leftists," and "The Democratic Party or leftist groups are organizations that do everything imaginable." Police pointed out that these remarks constituted a breach of political neutrality, as they were made in connection with her official duties or by taking advantage of her position as a high-ranking public official.
